As you know, the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), enacted in December 2015, requires states to develop and submit to the US Department of Education (ED) a state implementation plan.  There are two submission dates in 2017: April 3rd and September 18th. Fifteen states and the District of Columbia submitted their plans during the April cycle, however the remaining 35 states have until September to submit their plans.

A
SHA created a guide for members to use and includes some key provisions in our state’s ESSA plan.  Attached is the implementation guide that includes some background information on ESSA and the development of state implementation plans, five key areas that we believe would benefit members most and should be included in the state plans and some key terms, resources and contact information.

The state plan (https://dpi.wi.gov/esea) and state plan implementation contacts (https://dpi.wi.gov/user/1240/contact) are available via these links.
