Our Chapter has had a very busy month with volunteer events and advocacy! At our monthly meeting earlier this month, we hosted a graduate panel. This was when we invited several members of the graduate programs to talk about their experiences and answer questions about how they prepared for graduate school. We had some very positive feedback from this event (although it made some of the freshman a little worried- we told them they had plenty of time to prepare and everything would be okay). In addition to the graduate panel, we participated in several volunteer events as well!

October was full of volunteer events! We started out month out by helping at the Down Syndrome Awareness Walk in Wausau (I attached some pics) and the local Harvest Festival. The Harvest Festival was an all inclusive event held for those with all ability levels to feel included. Our members helped with face painting and a few of our members even dressed in costumes provided by the event staff!

Our chapter participated in Student Advocacy Day and hosted a letter writing session with pizza for our members. We also hosted a bake sale! At the bake sale we were able share information about our chapter and also gave out earplugs for hearing protection. We are planning plenty of events for November including a professor social night to help members connect with professors and work on their networking skills.
