Madison - The Department of Administration is pleased to announce that Waylon Hurlburt has been selected as the new State Budget Director. In this role, Hurlburt will also serve as the Division Administrator of Executive Budget and Finance. The Division provides accounting, budget and financial services for state government, including fiscal and policy analysis for the Governor. The State Budget Office prepares the biennial state budget, and assists agencies in the technical preparation of budget requests. It also prepares fiscal estimates for proposed legislation. “The State Budget Office is pleased to welcome Waylon to the Department of Administration. His extensive experience in budget preparation and analysis will play a significant role as we continue to effectively manage state resources into the 2017-19 biennial budget,” Secretary Scott Neitzel said. “We thank Michael for his work on the state budget and we look forward to his continued state service as Medicaid Director.”

Hurlburt has worked for Governor Walker on budget and policy issues since January 2011. He currently serves as the Senior Advisor to the Governor. Prior to working for Governor Walker, Hurlburt worked in various state legislative offices since 2006.

Hurlburt will begin his new role on October 3, 2016. He replaces Michael Heifetz who will assume the role of State Medicaid Director and Division Administrator of Health Care Access and Accountability at the Department of Health Services beginning on October 3, 2016.
