Last week, the Joint Committee on Finance passed a motion (motion #457) that changes teacher licensure in Wisconsin.  It eliminates the need for anyone to complete a teacher education or alternative program leading to licensure in grades 6-12.

Details of the provision can be found under item number 46 at http://pb.dpi.wi.gov/sites/default/files/imce/pb/pdf/Motion%20457%20Rep%20Ed%20Omnibus.pdf beginning on page 25 and ending on page 27.  Please follow the link (provided here) to read the DPI News Release.

WSHA has been in contact with DPI to determine the impact on SLPs.  WSHA urges you to contact your legislators regarding this issue.
