Advocating for Yourself and Your Profession

This webinar will focus on skill development in advocacy related to the profession of audiology. A member of the ASHA Board of Directors will discuss strategies for successful advocacy, opportunities to lead, ASHA advocacy tools/resources and ways to get involved. Issues described in ASHA’s Public Policy Agenda (PPA) will be highlighted as well as strategies for how audiologists can become involved in advocacy efforts at the local, state and national level to ensure favorable outcomes for our profession and the individuals we serve.
Speaker: Anita F. Vereb, PhD, CCC-A
Anita Vereb, PhD/CCC-A, is an audiologist at the University of Michigan/Michigan Medicine’s Pediatric Audiology Department. She provides educational audiology consultant services to several counties/Intermediate School Districts (ISDs) across Michigan. Dr. Vereb earned a BS degree in Education of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and MS degree in Audiology from Clarion University of Pennsylvania. She completed her PhD in Educational Studies, with a focus in literacy, language and culture, from the University of Michigan. Her research interests include language and literacy development in children who are Deaf/Hard of Hearing. Dr. Vereb is currently serving as the Audiology Member-at-Large on ASHA Board of Directors, term 2024-2026.
Disclosures: Financial – Dr. Vereb is employed by the University of Michigan/Michigan Medicine’s Pediatric Audiology Department and receives a salary. She also provides consultant services to several counties and school districts across Michigan. Non-financial – Dr. Vereb is the Audiology Member-at-Large on the ASHA Board of Directors.
