3rd Annual NSSLHA Leadership Retreat
September 22, 2001
Hosted by UW—Madison

Thank you to Joni Johnson and the UW—Madison NSSLHA chapter for hosting this 3rd annual Leadership Retreat!

WSHA’s 2001 NSSLHA Leadership Retreat! Students from four of the seven Wisconsin university programs (UW—Madison, UW—Whitewater, UW—Eau Claire, and UW—River Falls) attended along with WSHA President Caryn Easterling and President-Elect Tina Radichel. Dr. Michael Chial, WSHA member and faculty member at UW—Madison took this photo and co-hosted the event and facilitated discussions on the retreat theme, “We will have a Hunnish Day!” The retreat was based on the leadership lessons taken from the activities of Attila the Hun.

Students from UW—Madison and UW—Whitewater “snacking and thinking” during the afternoon of the retreat. Joni Johnson (reaching across table), a 2nd-year graduate student at Madison, coordinated the event locally. Thanks, Joni!

WSHA President-Elect Tina Radichel discussed the stages of teaming and facilitated student small group work.

Students from UW—Eau Claire and UW—River Falls learned about their own Myers-Briggs type and how personality affects leadership.

HA President Caryn Easterling offered valuable insight into how NSSLHA chapters might strategize on various topics and plans.

Dr. Michael Chial from UW—Madison. “What does Attila the Hun have to do with leadership, you ask?” Well, there are many lessons here, says “Dr. Mike.”
